CAFC Request: 2024 Great Canadian Fire Census

Dear Members,

In an effort to increase the data on the Canadian Fire Sector, the CAFC through its Answer the Call Committee, its Data Committee and in collaboration with the National Advisory Council (NAC) member organizations, is launching the 2024 Great Canadian Fire Census!

We are asking each fire department’s help in creating an updated snapshot of the Fire Sector in Canada. Starting today, we are asking you to provide data for your organization as it was on April 30, 2024 or the last available 12 month reporting period.

Doing so will be easy. You will find the instructions and the link to the survey here. You will have until June 14 to complete the survey. We do hope you participate and do have a number of weekly prize draws for those who complete the survey. The sooner you submit, the more draws your department will be eligible for.

The Great Canadian Fire Census is supported by all of the Provincial and Territorial Fire Chiefs Associations who are members of the National Advisory Council of the CAFC. To encourage participation, it is possible you will receive the Great Canadian Fire Census from multiple sources. You only need to complete the Great Canadian Fire Census once. The data will be shared with your provincial/territorial fire chiefs association. However, the data will only be used in aggregate form. No organization specific data will be published.

Remember, every fire department counts, literally and figuratively. We would like one response per department. Once the data has been collated the results will be made available to you.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with CAFC’s Manager of Membership Services and Special Projects Ms. Anabel Therrien at [email protected].

Thank you,

Chief Keven Lefebvre, Chair of the Data Committee

Chief Vince MacKenzie, Chair of the Answer the Call Committee

Chief Ken McMullen, CAFC President

Chief Peter Krich, Chair of the NAC
