Open Letter from Minister of Health to Alberta Fire Chiefs Association:

Dear Stakeholder:

Since Premier Danielle Smith and my November 8, 2023 announcement of the efforts to refocus Alberta’s health care system, progress has been made to initiate governance improvements and begin our conversations with Alberta’s health care workforce and Albertans. Engagement will be a critical underpinning of this work, and is a foundational pillar of the refocusing efforts.

 An online engagement tool is currently publicly available to gather deeper insights into the challenges, obstacles and successes staff and Albertans experience in the current health care system. All Albertans and health care workers are encouraged to participate by submitting their stories and feedback to help shape the way forward. The tool can be found online at https://www.alberta.ca/shape-the-way. Those who wish to provide a written submission can do so by emailing [email protected].

 Through five initial town halls, over 8,000 clinical and non-clinical health care staff and Albertans have already participated in the first round of engagement sessions on refocusing Alberta’s health care system. Planning for significant additional engagement is underway.
