This course is available to members of recognized emergency services organizations. This course is being delivered over 6 months online with one (1) practical day on December 5, and the exam and practical evaluations on December 12th at the Kananaskis Emergency Services Centre. This course is designed to prepare Level 1 Fire Service Instructors to deliver lessons using a variety of instructional methods such as: manage resources and record keeping systems, schedule and evaluate practical training sessions, supervise and evaluate other instructors, and analyze student test results.
Assignments in this course deal with: lesson plan development and delivery, lesson plan adaptation, creation, administration, and analysis of student assessment instruments, classroom and practical training evolution supervision and management, instructor supervision and evaluation, and course scheduling and budgeting.
Students will be required to purchase their own textbook: IFSTA Fire and Emergency Services Instructor 9th Edition. The textbook is available from the Alberta Fire Chief’s Association bookstore. Successful students will be eligible for IFSAC & ProBoard certification.
Prerequisites: NFPA 1041-1 Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Level 1
A 50% deposit is required to reserve a seat in the course. Deposits are non-refundable if canceled within two weeks of the start date. A schedule will be provided ahead of the July 3rd start date; each chapter will commence approximately a month apart. This will require the logging in and watching the lecture and completing assignments each month.
