Hello Members:

Today is the third and final call for nominations for 1st Vice President Position. Third call will expire at noon tomorrow, (Thursday April 18th). Following this will commence the electronic vote.

Candidates so far are:

Chief, Rob Evans, Redwood Meadows
Chief, Drayton Bussiere, County of Red Deer

Eligible nominations must have served one year on the AFCA Board.

Nominations can be sent to [email protected]

To share, I received a question from a member: Does a person HAVE to be Nominated? The answer is: according to the Bylaws only the President position must be nominated The remaining executive positions and Director positions can be self nominated, nominated by a member, or an individual already in the position can allow their name to stand for another term.

Thank you members for being engaged in this process!!

Here’s another interesting bylaw fact: Alternate Director positions do not require a regional vote. The current Regional Director can appoint an Alternate. In my experience attending regional meetings, I have always observed the Regions electing an Alternate Director. This demonstrates that our membership values a democratic process. However, be careful if you miss a Regional meeting and they need an Alternate 🙂
