Dan Marsellus, Fire Chief Kneehill County , CASA Master Trainer for BeGrainSafe Program

Currently, the Rural Fire Chief for Kneehill County & Deputy Director of Emergency Management, Dan Marsellus has been involved in BeGrainSafe training since 2017. As a Master Trainer Dan has taught close to two hundred first responders in the importance of grain safety over the last 2 years.

Dan has dedicated his career to being of service to his community and has held a variety of emergency responder and management positions over the last 30 years including moving up the ranks in the fire service, Technical Rescue, Search and Rescue, and serving in the Canadian Armed Forces; all preparing him to lead and share his knowledge with other first responders.

Catherine A. Rylatt, MPAVice PresidentGrain Handling Safety Council (GHSC)

Catherine co-founded the GHSC after the engulfment death of her 19 year old nephew and a 14 year old co-worker. She put to use 25+ years of management, policy, budgeting, training, mediation, liaison, and client advocacy experience working in non-profits, state government, and volunteer positions to help form and grow the Coalition. Catherine volunteers her time to run the day to day operations of GHSC. She is the lead grant writer and grant program coordinator ensuring program objectives are met, as well as develops training curriculum and educational resources with industry advisors. Catherine represents GHSC with the OSHA national Alliance, serves on the Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week planning committee, handles the administrative tasks of Stand Up, and coordinates the daily learning sessions for Stand Up Week.
