Training Opportunity - Ammonia Safety Training Institute, 3 Locations in Alberta

Ammonia Safety Training Institute (ASTI)

It is a one day event that is geared to people working with ammonia, such as arenas, industrial sites, transportation (trucks and trains are moving ammonia every day), and especially first responders, including Fire and Rescue, Hazmat, and EMT’s.

The morning includes the properties of ammonia, the dangers and effects of contact, dealing with a leak, and protecting the public. The afternoon includes sessions on how a location that uses ammonia, works with the first responders, to have an action plan in place before an event occurs. The local Fire Departments are a critical part in being prepared for an event, should one occur.

This year’s dates are:

September 4: Lloydminster

September 5: Edmonton

September 6: Calgary

Time: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Cost: $50.00 per person. The cost to attend has been set low to allow people to attend without it being a burden to the town or organization sending them.
Included is: Information packages, lunch, beverages for a morning and afternoon break, and a certificate for attending the training from ASTI.

NOTE: Sponsorship by Multigas and others covers the shortfall that the registrations do not cover.

This year we are reaching out to the Fire and Rescue Departments that protect locations with arenas containing ammonia machine rooms, and the staff working in the arenas.
