SUMMARY:Grassland Wildfire Operations S-100G - Fort Saskatchewan
DESCRIPTION:Grassland Wildfire Operations\nS-100G \nThis course\, Grassland Wildfire Operations (S-100G) is designed to meet the training needs for municipal and wildland fire personnel conducting grassland wildfire suppression operations. This course is adapted for use from the Grassland Fire Operations training course developed by Saskatchewan Environment and Parks Canada (2003) and the Wildfire Orientation training course developed by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development.\nS100G – understanding grassfires and safely managing them is the most fundamental wildland priority for structural and wildland firefighters. The speed and potential intensity of grassfires can be very dangerous to ground personnel and values at risk. Live fire with ground ignition is a fundamental component of this instruction. \nDates: March 30th\, 2025 \nLocation: Walter Thomas Fire Station 1 – 10099 93 Avenue Fort Saskatchewan \nTime: 0800-1630 \nPrerequisites: NFPA 1001 Level 1\, ICS 100 \nMaximum participants: 20 students \nCost: $125.00 lunch and textbooks are included \n Deadline to Register: March 21st\, 2025\, 1700hrs. \nRegistration: Email fsfdtraining@fortsask.ca to register for the course stating the course title in and date in the subject line: S100G Officer Mar. 31\nFor more information on this course contact Platoon Chief Nolan Jespersen at njespersen@fortsask.ca or at 780-996-1360. \nFor a shareable flyer\, please use the following link: \nS100G course notice

SUMMARY:S-100G Grassland Wildfire Operations Officer Strategy and Tactics - Fort Saskatchewan
DESCRIPTION:S-100G Grassland Wildfire Operations\nOfficer Strategy and Tactics \nThis course is based on the foundational knowledge and skills gained in the S-100G Grassland Wildfire Operations. Whether responding as an Officer or the senior firefighter\, the understanding of a wildfire situation\, size up and methods of attack decided upon are crucial. This module explains in greater detail fire weather and behavior for our common fuel types\, not just grass\, to enable us to give our crew a better situational awareness and plan of attack. This course touches on structural protection in the interface\, further wildland training options and more enhanced live fire practice. \nThe course consists of theory and practical scenarios giving officers and senior members skills related to size up\, risk analysis\, and ongoing assessment of grassland fires. An emphasis on communications to select and adjust the IAP based on the grassland environment is conducted and ensuring officers and anyone leading a crew will gain the confidence to make timely decisions and keep crews safe in the dynamic grassland environment. \nDates: March 31st\, 2025 \nLocation: Walter Thomas Fire Station 1 – 10099 93 Avenue Fort Saskatchewan \nTime: 0800-1630 \nPrerequisites: NFPA 1021 Level 1 or equivalent\, ICS 100 \nMaximum participants: 20 students \nCost: $125.00 lunch and textbooks are included \nDeadline to Register: March 21st\, 2025\, 1700hrs. \nRegistration: Email fsfdtraining@fortsask.ca to register for the course stating the course title in and date in the subject line: S100G Officer Mar. 31\nFor more information on this course\, contact Platoon Chief Nolan Jespersen at njespersen@fortsask.ca or at 780-996-1360. \nPlease use the following link for a shareable flyer: \nS100G Officer course notice
