 Live Fire (Cost to attend: $300)

 Live Fire will run May 3-4, 2023 at the Peace River Fire Department Training Grounds. The Live Fire Training will follow NFPA 1403 guidelines and will be broken down into 4 stations. It is the expectation of the Northern Heat trainers that all participants will have some basic firefighting skills for their safety and the safety of all persons in the training area.

 Each attending firefighter will NEED to have the following in order to attend:

  • Release signed by the Fire Chief and by the participant (to be sent to registrants approximately two weeks before the conference);
  • SCBA mask fit test completed within two years of the conference date as per release;
  • Complete SCBA assembly with a spare SCBA bottle; and
  • Complete structural firefighting turnout gear in good condition and no older than 10 years from date of manufacturer.

 

Key points of learning:

  • Flashover Simulator Phase 1: A Fire behaviour & flow path evolution and a rollover / flashover evolution
  • Draeger System 64: LPG exterior live fire training. Props include vehicles, BBQ, gas meter, industrial motor, and more.
  • Structure Fire Simulator Phase 5 – Interior fire multi-story attack techniques.
  • Burn Chamber Phase 2 – Entry procedures, hazard recognition, and withdrawal from hazardous environment.
  • Vertical Ventilation – Different vertical ventilation techniques on roof prop.

 Hands-On Training – Firefighter Fundamentals – Instructors: Michael Shykora, Nolan Jespersen, Bryan Hall

Firefighters will learn to work proficiently with their every day tools to complete tactical tasks safely and efficiently. Ladder work, hose handling, searches are just a few topics that will be covered

Option 3:

Hands-On Training – Firefighter Survival – Instructors: Frank Nasca & co.

Back by popular demand – This course will supply you with a greater understanding of the need for situational awareness, fire fighter survival skills, and the technical survival skills to help you avoid committing fatal errors on the fireground.

 Lunch & Learn: GP911 – Next Gen CAD: What it means for you and your department

Deputy Chief Mark VanWerkhoven and GP911 colleagues will go over the next generation CAD transition and what it means to the departments they serve.
