This senior position is responsible for managing, leading, planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the Emergency Services Department. These include but are not limited to: fire prevention, fire suppression, emergency medical services, regional emergency agency communications, regional 9-1-1 call answer services, technical rescue, mobile equipment, and physical facilities. The ES Manager is responsible for financial and staff management. As well, the ES Manager must keep abreast of technological change and changes in local conditions.

Ideally to fill this role you will be a proven performer with NFPA 1021 Level VI or a Bachelor degree in Fire Science, Business or Public Administration and ten years’ management experience.

As our preferred candidate you will:
• Strong administrative skills, labour relations skills, and proven skills in verbal and written communications. Strong listening skills. Strong relationship, team-building and leadership skills.
• Driver’s license.
• Basic computer skills
• Understanding of budgets, finance, accounting and performance measures.
• Ability to understand, interpret and apply legislation.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders.
